Abstract

The transformation of the toy piano into a musical instrument dates back to the middle of the twentieth century making its first appearance on stage thanks to J. Cage’s peculiar point of view of the instrument and art in general. Since then, the toy piano has awakened an interest in a wide range of composers, arrangers and interpreters of diverse genres and styles as well as in manufacturers, luthiers and collectors. The Argentinian K. Kohotek has proposed the original idea to exhibit her collection among the audience in artistic events with the aim of drawing the audience’s attention beyond a single toy piano and exploiting its full musical potential.
