Female orgasm: topic of discussion in the national study of human sexuality
Abstract
The female orgasm and orgasmic dysfunction in the field of sexual health and welfare of women, are certainly a topic of increasing interest in recent years. Sexual health is considered one of the essential elements in human well-being; in an idealized environment every sexual act should trigger an orgasm, and the absence of this impacts the health and quality of life of women. Speaking in figures, in the United States, the National Health and Social Life Survey (1) establishes the general female sexual dysfunction in a 43.0% vs 31.0% one in men, indicating a significant neglect of women's sexual problems. Problems reaching orgasm in women deserve for their significant prevalence careful study of multicausality and carrying out work to implement scientifically rigorous methods for producing results. This letter to the editor to raise awareness among health professionals about the need to generate research products related to the topic of female orgasm and orgasmic dysfunction, since to investigate reports literature little scientific production that could well be the result of socio-cultural constraints that have been ingrained for decades in the country is evident.Downloads
