Qualitative research as a fundamental methodological approach in health sciences research
Abstract
Qualitative research (QR) occupies a prominent place in health sciences research. It is and will continue to be an indispensable methodological tool for analyzing contemporary nursing phenomena because it allows a deep understanding of those dimensions that impact health care (1). In nursing, approaching care from this perspective helps to explore human experiences and social phenomena related to the health-illness process. It allows researchers to deeply understand the perspectives of patients, families, and health professionals, providing a holistic view of what care is (2).
