Background and experiences in eHealth in Colombia

Abstract

The advancement of Information and Communications Technology (ITC) has driven in the area of health, the development of research related to the processes of health service delivery. Especially for rural and remote areas, various projects have been originated, models, platforms, equipment and standards, aimed at meeting the need for universal health coverage as well as to save costs and optimize resources both human and economic. This article presents a background revision and mentions experiences carried out at national level on issues concerning eHealth.
