The limitations of the normative theories of Public Opinion in the informative and political reality of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Keywords: political communication, public opinión, information, democracy, technological revolution

Abstract

Political communication is a !eld of knowledge in the study of public opinion, inherent to Political Science. Numerous intellectuals throughout history have defended a political communication that seeks to promote civic responsibility and presents a democratizing character, in order to be cautious with the type of public opinion that is built in a society. In this paper we propose a critical analysis as a review with an interpretative hermeneutic approach, reviewing the theoretical tensions and positions in the 20th century, giving way to a research question: Has the technological revolution of the Internet in the 21st century helped those democratizing aspirations necessary for the informative task?
