Abstract

The purpose of this review is to present an analysis of the relevant elements of the book published by Pablo Navarrete entitled "Plegarias del pueblo muerto: El Aro", published by Planeta. The core arguments presented are the possibilities offered by the text to invoke the spectre of the dead left by the paramilitary massacre of 1997 in the village of El Aro (Ituango, Antioquia), the dignity of its mourners, and how it reveals other forms of violence that are usually connected in investigations of this type of phenomena. Thus, it is inferred that the book challenges the reader to assume a moral responsibility in the long process of reparation for the victims and their mourners.
