Nursing narratives: Pedagogical approach for training in person-centered care and contribution to qualitative research
Abstract
Over the past fifty years, there has been a shift in the hierarchy within healthcare systems worldwide. This change aims to humanize care by creating a balance between patients and healthcare professionals, enabling equitable and collaborative decision-making. As a result, the approach known today as person-centered care or patient-centered care (PCC) has been established: a healthcare model that emphasizes the patient's values and preferences, empowers the patient, and respects their autonomy to actively participate in decisions about their own care (1,2).
