Proceso de paz tras el Acuerdo de Belfast: coyuntura actual de los muros de paz en Irlanda del Norte
Resumen
La construcción de muros de paz en Irlanda del Norte entre los vecindarios colindantes de católicos y protestantes, foco
de conflicto, aumentó tras el Acuerdo de Belfast (1998), que sentaba las bases para el inicio de un proceso de paz en
la región del Úlster. Estas infraestructuras funcionan como líneas divisorias y segregadoras de los grupos implicados y,
simultáneamente, han tenido un papel central en el mantenimiento de la paz. A través del método etnográfico y de la
profundización en otras fuentes como los proyectos Belfast Interface Project (2017) y Public attitudes to Peace Walls (2020),
se analiza la evolución de la presencia de las líneas de paz en Irlanda del Norte desde el Acuerdo, y las percepciones de
la población que vive próxima a estas fronteras urbanas.
