Geopolitics of Evil: Pablo Escobar, Colombia and Popular Geopolitics on IMDb
Abstract
The objective of this article will be to understand the representation of the sober speech the evil done by the mass entertainment media through the interpretation made by the audience to whom this speech is intended. For this, a comparative analysis is carried out between the television series El Patrón del Mal and Narcos. The theoretical contribution comes from Critical Geopolitics and the concept of popular geopolitical discourse. The methodology is based on the analysis of the opinions of Internet Movie Database users. From this exercise, the relevance of subtexts and intertextuality to represent social phenomena was verified.
