Knowledge management in nursing during THE SARS COV 2 COVID-19 pandemic
Abstract
Introduction. The COVID-19 pandemic meant for the nursing profession and personnel involved in direct care, a challenge in the generation and appropriation of new knowledge that would allow them to provide relevant and timely care. Objective. Explore the experiences of nursing staff. nursing in relation to the management and flows of knowledge and its appropriation, in healthcare practice for the care of patients with COVID-19. Methods. Qualitative multiple case research through semi-structured interviews with nurses who cared for patients with COVID-19 in 2 hospitals in Colombia. Results. The study shows the leadership that nursing exercises in the planning and execution of actions aimed at the construction and dissemination of knowledge. Among the components that favored knowledge flows are the organizational structure for knowledge management, the permanent relationship with the academy, the preparation, experience, and professional commitment of all the entities' personnel. The capacity for its contextualized use for the health care of patients with covid, which becomes more relevant. while it is considered tacit knowledge constructed collectively and interdisciplinary from previous knowledge and experiences and the critical appropriation of external information. Discussion. the results of the study are assimilated to other research that points out both the role of nursing in the transfer of knowledge to the entire health team in conditions of adversity, and the barriers that hinder the construction and access to knowledge. Conclusion. The experiences of nursing staff regarding management and knowledge flows highlight the profession as a leader in educational processes, even in contexts of adversity, whose social recognition is an aspect that needs to be strengthened.
